Petrol tank

Hi everyone and a Happy New Year.
My name is Brian and I’ve just joined up today. I live in Belfast and have two Commer’s a 1974 Olympian camper and a 1981 ex BT yellow panel van. I’ve had them for about 9 years and still haven’t came across any others here!
The petrol tank on my 1981 van has had it!
Do you know where I can get one?
Cheers.

Hi Brian and welcome along:) It sounds like you're a committed Commerfan so you should find this site a little useful and sometimes entertaining. Tim (commeracer) on here makes replacement aluminium tanks with a very useful extra capacity, he's made over a hundred, I think, and we have one on each of our vans so they come highly recommended. If you drop him a PM on here I'm sure he'll be in touch.

Good luck and show us yer vans - that's the forum tax you have to pay;)

Hi and welcome. :) Lovely vans. Lots of helpful advice etc on here. I’m one of the many who has a tank. Haven’t fitted it though as selling the battlebus. It’s very well made so well worth contacting him.

Oh nice
Is the Dodge a working van?
Not exactly…It’s always in use but I put my friends Fireplace business on the side ….looks better than left blank.
My sons have just started a Pie & Mash business over here and would like to use it so new signage and mechanical overhaul under way…hence the need for a petrol tank.

Hello Brian , your dodge looks to be surviving really well !
Hi Neil,
actually bought it on eBay about 9 years ago. Lady from Kent was selling it as her father had passed away.
He bought it from BT and used it to transport his classic racing bikes back and forward from races.
It only had 23,000 miles on it when I bought it just over 30 now.
As you can see, it’s never been restored. It’s mechanical sound but the body will need some attention soon.

Hi Brian.
Welcome aboard.
Your ex BT looks a bit like mine did back in 1979 when I bought it when it came off the fleet. It did make it into the Classic Van Mag back in 2016. Hopefully I will try and attach a couple of pics to show you what it looks like now. Keep up the good work.
