Much like everything our hosts have to put up the hosting fee to cover their costs (and our usage). We have been on a sweetheart deal until now and I really appreciated Adam at Rivmedia's help and low fees this past few years since the refresh. But the fact is our usage and storage needs mean we are moving to another service level.

I am tremendously grateful for the donations and regular support so many give to help keep the lights on in our little corner of the web, Thank you all past and present.

I'm going to be completely open with CVFers as to what has come in and what has gone out in 2021.. and what 2022 will bring.

2021 donations: £137.78
2021 costs (hosting and software): £ 183.60

2022 costs: £545

We don't have commercial sponsors, we don't have a committee, we don't have subs, we don't have benefits, we don't have google ads plastered around, I'm not keen on any of the above! The forum and I are not a deserving charity case with everything going on in the world and everyone is probably feeling the inflationary pinches. Don't fret, lights are staying on either way!

So this is a gentle nudge that if anyone feels they could contribute, particularly on a low monthly basis as even £1 a month makes it easier to pay bills each month, you can follow the Paypal link here https://commervanfan.co.uk/forum.html and choose a one off or monthly recurring amount.

Many thanks for taking the trouble to keep the CVF forum (and site) going, John! I'm not as frequent a visitor as I once was, unfortunately, but it is still the best place to be, without a shadow of doubt! A very, very friendly and lovely corner of the world, and - I think - an essential site in keeping this little community going.

I, for one, set up a 3 pound automatic monthly PayPal payment a good while back now, and I can only recommend others doing the same. This sort of regular outgoing I find completely unproblematic, and even a small 3 pound account deduction from my account adds up to 36 pounds at the other end over a year. And I don't have to think about it either, and no more bad conscience from not chipping in.

Or do it another way.

But do it :)
