Hi all.
I've been told I must be mad but...!
I'm on the look out for a commer autosleeper or similar commer camper. Ideally one which has already been restored or one which is hopefully fairly rot free if that's possible but in need of a bit of tlc within reason..!

Hi and welcome. Mad? Of course not :p . The voices told me to get one and it’s brilliant. It’s a great way of learing some mechanics, cos you’ll need to lol. There is one on here that has been resprayed but needs putting back together, (I think). There is always someone on here that will give advice and knowledge so you won’t have to worry about that sort of thing.
Happy hunting!

Hi I've always thought they looked cool and were different to those German air cooled things..! So I thought I'd try and find one.
I'm a mechanic by trade so I'm not afraid of a little problem or two...and I could do with something to keep me busy..!
Could you send me link for the one which just needs putting back together as I had a look earlier and I couldn't find it.. cheers

Mecanic, perfect trade for owning a Commer lol. It didn’t have a pop top sorry. Gives you an idea. Don’t know how to do links. Yoda was selling it
For Sale Commer Dormobile Coaster Project

Yes I'm sure a commer with keep me more than busy..! I think Yoda looks like a quite a project..!

Hi Tintin and welcome to the Madhouse, we are all a little bit nuts but that's a good thing:)
Pretty sure the Coaster sold for very little money but there is this little beauty - but in Norther Ireland

There's also a rather gorgeous minbus just come up for sale on here too.
Hi yes it helps to be a bit nuts I think..!
The one in Ireland looks cool, shame it's a bit far from me here in the North East.

A side door Commer camper adds another dimension, as most survivors are rear door only. The Coaster is a very nice conversion IMO and for the right price that van would be a lovely blank canvas.
I almost sold my Commer for a song in a similar state but so glad that I kept the faith. I'm not a mechanic and I've shed loads to do but learning fast and loving it - see my thread in Reader's Rides.

Yes you are right there... I've noticed that all Commers are getting quite rare, due to the dreaded rust beatle..! I was gutted last week when I missed out on Dottie..
This may seem like a daft and probably an unanswerable question but what's a fair price to pay for one??

The godsend is that they aren’t Baywindow prices lol. I’ve seen one up for £15k but they se to be between £4-6k. Finding one local is more tricky than pricing. I was lucky as it was 10 miles away and turned out my mate new the seller which I think swung the sale.

Seems about right but some I've seen advertised are a bit rougher than others. Can't beat seeing vans in the flesh rather than relying on descriptions and pictures.

That's the thing I've noticed so far they all are at the other end of the country.. but that's sods law I guess

Mind you if it’s a seller on here they may be more inclined to hold it to give you the chance to turn it into a viewing/ mini break. You could always get it transported home. Fingers crossed you find a lovely local one

Yeah I'll keep looking and see what turns up and hopefully I'll find a good one..
