temp readings

Good ideas, but all I did to fix my Commer's errant temperature gauge was to exercise a deft whack to the loose rivet on top of the sender. Mine sits in the middle like that all day long now:)

Cool thanks for that. Thinking of the added bike rad mod. If it had a fan with dashboard switch that would di a better job than turning heater on. And wouldn’t heat the cab up

That would work fine, but if you are having an over heating problem you should really get to the bottom of the problem and not mask it with an extra radiator. Both me and Jim have installed the bike rad because we have modified engines, or removed the mechanical fan, and need the extra cooling. The standard cooling system should be able to cope with your engine. I would start with a good flush out and new coolant before anything else.

The only reason I fitted a different rad was because of the higher cruiseing speed made the temp gauge go up but that was because of the voltage stablizer higher revs higher volts

Could be that the original rad was getting scaled up a bit, fitting the new one cured it:)
I seem to remember Colin the fox getting his rad re-conned with a more efficient core

It only creeps up when stuck in traffic on a hot day
I run my commer as standard mostly but I do have a back-up front mounted electric pusher fan I can flick on if needed:)...Barely ever used it, except to see if it still works. Some say, however, that in itself it is restrictive to air flow:oops:

When I saw it creeping up I just put the heater on so didn’t really check to see how hot it would’ve got. Off out camping next weekend so will experiment then as I won’t have done any rad mods by then

We are off on Monday doing about 200 miles so will be a good ckeck to see if everything is good then the week after of to North Wales hopefully won't need the heaters on this time.shouldnbe a good trial for the new awning as well we'll see if it's 4year old proof

I prob would have tested a bit more with scoops, thermos etc but to get it creeping towards (never got there) the red you’d need a long 60 mph drive on a hot day so put in a garaunteed fix. Scoop would probably have done it as never got crazy hot

Lol if I have to drive at those sort of dizzy unobtainable speeds maybe I should be finding ways to keep the engine warm. I’ll have a look at some Ice road trucker episodes for ideas

Ha ha, yep needs engine work to cruise at those speeds and brake and suspension work to feel safe(ish). Off to France next week from Sheffield so that’ll test it proper :-/
