Hi everyone. First time user of this site and a new Commer owner Duncan here. I've just bought a 1965 Commer Highwayman, sight unseen, from a seller on the west coast of New Zealand's South Island. We're going to pick it up sometime in the next couple of weekends.
Given that, as I understand, most of the shell is aluminium and fibreglass, it would be unfair to describe it as a rust bucket, though I imagine I might end up going through a few wire brushes cleaning up the chassis and all those complicated bits underneath that I don't understand. But as it's been sitting unloved and neglected for ten years in one of the wettest places in the world, and the parts of the wooden floor and framework may well have the consistency and structural strength of soggy weetbix, it may well turn out to bit of a rot bucket.
Fingers crossed, it may turn out to be worth restoring. If not, then I've got myself a rather quirky woodshed. Time will tell I guess. Anyway, time for challenge number 1 - working out which image sharing website to use.
