Don't think dodgey and I were meant to be..... the big ends gone.... soooooo am looking for a replacement bottom engine... Martin mentioned someone in London making new ones... does anyone have any info on this as cant reach Martin today and would like to get on it... as there's no spark without a big end!! ;-)

Been to see these guys - nearish Slough area. Got loads of stock of everything and they're pretty cheap, Iranian brother run it, really cool guys and one drivers a Hillman Hunter. AVP is the actual Engineering side that does the engines rather than the EBay shop called Greenwood Autos. If you're close it's worth popping in to see if can get a better price than Ebay, I got offered one a fair bit cheaper and wish I'd took it now as the prices have climbed a lot since then.

To add they weren't interested discount over the phone at all, this was a long time along though and may not offer them at all anymore.
THey're funny to track down under various names - AVP, Greenwood, and their unit is called JMD Automotive, all very confusing really...

Do you not have a local engine rebuilder who would grind your crank and fit undersize shells............or has it thrown a con rod or otherwise wrecked itself?

if you go diesel take the Daihatsu fourtrak engine from a rocky or a feroza ,fairly cheap en rather small ..and its a 2.8 diesel engine ...you do not need the turbo version ..because these take to much space
I fitted a regular non turbo 2.8 rocky engine in my ford transit MK 1 and couldn't be happier !! I used it in france and cornwall ....and none of the hills gave me any problems ,and don't forget it weighs more than a commer > topspeed is 70mph
and these engines are bullet proof and the Daihatsu rocky gearbox is easy to convert into rear wheeldrive ,so you can loose the middle part that runs the frontwheels ,but maube you can mount the belhousing on to the commer box ,but the diahatsu has a 5 spead so you don't need the O.D anymore ...good luck with whatever you decide .....my future commer will have a ford transit mk2 2.0 OHC engine not going for a diesel anymore because the dutch laws are changing for diesels older than 6 years ...you are not allowed in the bigger city's anymore
