Just got the jag back from the diagnostic man - was a flash memory fault, narrowed it down to when i walloped a pothole recently - reckons it happens all the time on modern cars, all reset, all now fine but cost bloody fifty quid - - - - -- glad it wasnt an expensive oxygen sensor or similar though ( he also reset the date the transmission fluid was changed as he reckoned that would be coming up soon )
I'm all for skimping on non-essentials Chris but when there's steam coming out of the vents (in a major way) which means it losing water and temperature at over 110 degrees on the way to the garage I just had to bite the bullet.

There quite easy to use and you can clear the faults.But of coarse you need to fix the fault first not just clear it like you man has done.It might be the fact hes software is not doin the buissines with your car,as there are two ways to access the information on the ecu. You can enter it through eobd or manufactures data which is more accurate. The cheap code reader on ebay will only be any good under eobd codes (P codes) which are very basic.It does say on listing it will work with manufactures but have never used this system so might be ok. I have an omnitec system which also does many abs and air bag faults but there about 2grand so not for your average diy mechanic
