Found this on ebay, not a PB or even a Commer but you get the idea. I know Nancey has one in her Autohome and that is the only one I have seen, Chasbaps was thinking of fitting one so may have done some research.

They would make the van nice and toastie in the winter[^] but you would have to plan you departure to make sure the stove was out before setting off. I love the little Pipsqueak stove but can no longer find the link to the pictures on the Belltent site [V]
I wonder how they would affect your insurance premiums[?] just a thought.

I'm pretty sure the belltent stoves are the windy smithy ones
I have only ever insured 3rd party anyway (not usually got a vehicle worth nicking - or with a stove inside!)

Woodburner would make such a difference but have always been to scared to put one in Bessie. Is a job to know where to put it in an autosleeper as is a small cabin space with things like petrol feeds and vents & little gas pipes liberally distributed amongst the woodwork which should get the petrol tank & gas bottle to go up nicely[B)] that combined with where to put the chimney on a pop up plastic roof kinda knocked it on the head for me[V](or is that just defeatist:I) still have a hankering to fit one so if anyone has any joy would love to find out how it works out. Have got a friend who can make tiddy stoves out of old dumpy gas bottles which would be just the ticket - but love the pipsqueak too:)

I'm thinking you would need to loose the fridge or cooker cupboard and take the flue out of the side and maybe add an extra vertical piece of flue pipe when you set up on site. Loosing the cooker would make sense if you used the wood burner for frying your bacon and eggs :p You could always carry a butane camping stove for emergency brew-ups.

wood burners in vans, are great.....

it takes no time to get it warm, and the heat produced is dry and cosy like no other heater.!!!!

mine was fitted by a friend. its safe and functional, but to be honest it could be alot more practical...!!!! mine's an old cast iron burner, that is far heavier than it needs to be, plus it doesn;t stay in for more than and hr and half once i've gone to bed.

windy smithy's burners look great. I also know of a man in mid wales that builds very similar burners, £115 for a small one suitable for a pb. I can get his contact details if you want.

I think wood burners in vans are very safe. I know alot of people with them, and have never heard of a fire related to one. plenty of stories of fires connected to candles but with a wood burner the naked flame is contained and aslong as you reflect or asorb the heat from the nearby walls, roof, and floor, it should be fine...

my burner sits on a paving slab to asorb the heat. (on top of a piece of marble!!!! all adding considerably to the weight..!!!)
but with the legs of windy smithys burners I guess this is less necessary.

I have aluminium and copper lining the surrounding walls with 1cm air cavity between the metal and walls to reflect the heat.

the flu goes through a hole that's been cut with a jigsaw, with a piece of aluminum to fill the gap between fibreglass and flu.

I took out the fridge and wardrobe to make place for the burner, I find it much more useful than a fridge in this climate and the wardrobe just wasn't big enough in the first place. My clothes now inhabit what was the toilet. I prefer to keep toilet activity in the outside dunny..!!!

the burner has been in place for two years, and I love her.

I have heard the latin meaning for 'hearth' is 'focus'.

My burner definetly adds a homely focus to cold dark winter nights in Tramper.

yep..... i've never seen it done in a pop top, but i'm sure its possible.

Mark uses the same burner in his van as in his bell tent. So, the flue is fully temporary in both spaces... with a rubber attachment as seen on windy smithy's website in the bell tent and just a hole in the metal roof of his sprinter van. surely something would be possible in a pop top, that you could make a lid for when not in use.???

A challenge for you,!!!! but I guess bessie needs attention elsewhere first...
 
The little Pipsqueak has a rear flue so could go out of the side of the van, but as I said before you would need to rig up an outside vertical piece of flue pipe once you were on site - maybe a bit fiddly :I Depends on how long you were staying I guess, and finding somewhere to store your pipe :).

Alternatively a top exit from the stove with a section of flue permanently fixed in position through the pop top but using a removable section in the main pipe to enable the roof to be dropped.

certainly sounds possible but kinda like my interior too as pretty original. Probably back cupboard next to stove favourite - next to fridge might not be ideal though

other side more handy with that square panel next to window for outlet but has petrol filler pipe immediately next to it.
