Water pump in Australia

Hi people, I need a new water pump for my van. It’s a pa/pb one of those cross over models apparently.
would a Hillman pump work? Or something else? Something that’s easier to get in Australia then uk. Thanks

Yes the 'Series' Hillman pumps will be fine, same engine, just don't go for the later Hunter/Arrows series version as they are different. You could always go for the Davies Craig electric pump, made in Australia I think. You need to take the internals out of the old pump and block the hole up, or make up an elbow to replace it, but they work well and a few of us have successfully done the mod. If you need any more info give us a shout.

iv used Davies Craig before in a rod a built. Worked well. Think I’ll try just a standard pump for now
 
Panky, water pump ordered and arrived but it’s got a longer neck on it. So doesn’t line up with alt/crank.
supplier tells me that’s the only pump for this engine. Any ideas?
 
I know there are different crank pulleys for various engine types that have different dish depths (Hunter, Rapier, Commer etc.) but the water pump is the only thing that's changed which is strange. Did they supply the pump with a new pulley centre and is it on the right way round? I'm only guessing here but the centre does have a different shoulder length on either side so if the wrong way round it could push the pulley further out.
How much difference is there between new and old pumps? If all else fails it might be possible to turn the shoulder of the fan pulley centre down to the reduce the nose length. Either that or see if you can find a crank pulley to suit (maybe the Hillman version has a shallower dish) and adjust the alternator bracket to bring it in line.
 
Thanks mate, think iv just found a solution. Iv got a 350 sitting in the shed. Turns out if you drill the Center out of a 350 chev pulley, it bolts up to a commer water pump. Just need to create a small spacer but looks like it’s going to work
 
Excellent, thank goodness it's an easy fix. Still a bit puzzled why the new pump was different.
