Wanted - Autosleeper PB

Hi all, I'm looking for a sweet RHD Autosleeper PB for camping trips with the wife and kids.

We sold our UK '59 bug to potentially help fund the purchase of a bay. But then quickly reached the conclusion that I just can't stomach what that scene has become with prices so ridiculous it's laughable.

So, I'm looking for something retro, fun and practical that we can all enjoy and the Commer certainly looks as though it will fit the bill, and dare I say it, I think it looks way cooler than the 'other' brand in any case! ;)

Seems the Commer is fairly scarce though, so give me shout if you know of one going :)

Cheers

Steve

welcome to the club that worked that all out! good luck with your search - vans are rarer than the "darkside", but the small group of us are far friendlier and don't have the stomach to be ridiculous.

I'd stretch your search wider than just an Autosleeper - whilst the more popular conversion around there are many to choose from. I'd recommend trying to see a few... Tatton Park in August always gets a stand full of club members... else tell us where you live and I'm sure someone on here will invite you round for a cuppa...

Hi Steve and welcome to the Madhouse:D
You have made a very wise and practical choice, the Commer, as well as being the coolest van on the planet, uses it's space to the maximum effect so you get loads of space compared with the other ones. As Edward says widen your search for alternatives, the Auto-Sleeper is brilliant (I've got one:)) but there are loads of other conversions out there that would suit you just as well. Keep you eyes and ears open on here and all the usual places, good luck.

Welcome to the club:) Yippee another convert from the dark side.If you are in Scotland you have very little chance of even seeing one let alone buying one. Good luck in your search :):):):)

Thanks all, I'm down in sunny Somerset and can't think of any time in recent years when I have seen one on the road, which makes it all the more appealing. Ideally I'd be looking for a pop top camper.
Not too fussed on cooking in the van, but it would be ideal if it could sleep 4.
If there are any specific conversions you think would be particularly worth a look, let me know

Four would be snug but could easily be done, you could get a seven berth option on an Auto-Sleeper:eek:
Don't let fewer beds put you off though as it is possible to add bunks in the cab or over the main bed.
some possible options are:-
Coaster (Martin Walter)
Wanderer
Car Camper
Haylette Olympian
Suntor
Maidstone
Plus many more but some quite rare.
