Is this suitable to test with ? How do I use it ?
Thanks panky , That is a skip find but not the skip find yesterday, lol you could of ruined my post by guessing it already , No I have only started looking at the oil gauge since my last incidence , I am just going to put some tape over it , it will keep the stone rosary beads and nuts and bolts that bang of the bit of a dash to drown out any problems the engine may have . Nice find the walking stick hopefully at your age u will not need itThat's a good oil pressure, no need to worry.
Your pictures show a cylinder compression tester. You take all the plugs out push the end of the tester into one of the plug holes, and hold it there firmly, then foot on the accelerator to open the carb butterfly and turn the engine over watching the the gauge as the piston pumps up the pressure. Once it stops rising make a note of the pressure and check each cylinder in turn, you're looking for an even reading across all four cylinders.
It's a nice thing to have for diagnosing faults but if the engine is running OK then leave it in the box until you suspect there's a problem with valves, pistons or head gasket.
That's not your skip find is it?
