Upper grille and chrome headlight ring removal

How are these removed?

After some very nasty weather, there’s some debris behind the upper grille and headlight rings that I haven’t been able to brush, vacuum or tweeze out.

Any tips or tricks?
 
The upper grille in held in with two very small studs at either end. The nuts are a little awkward to get to up under the dash either side of the heater and are probably a bit rusty so be careful nut to snap the studs. I actually replaced the nuts with a couple of small drawer knobs that just happened to have the right thread - dead easy to find and remove now :) There might be sealant holding the grille on too.
The headlight rings sometimes have a small screw underneath, once removed the ring will pull off. The other type, without the screw, clip over the inner ring and need a good push downwards while levering out at the bottom. Be careful what you use as a lever though as it's easy to chip the paint if it's made of metal - try a few layers of tape or cloth to protect the area as you lever the ring off.

Found the grille nuts and thankfully they aren’t rusty. I gave them a shot of spray lubricant and will tackle them once the weather cools a bit; it’s hotter than Satan’s bum right now.

I didn’t find any screws on the headlight rings, so will attempt option B when I can find an assistant.

As usual, one thing leads to another and whilst tidying under the dash, noticed the boot around the steering column was wobbly so pulled the rubber floor mat.
Dear heaven.. it’s like a Flintsone mobile. I have a fantastic view of the ground around the brake and clutch pedals and the hole for whatever wiring comes up the centre. Thankfully none of the holes are rusty, but are there gaskets for these?

And - the piece de resistance - the steering column boot has completely split and separated from it’s flange, which is still securely screwed to the floor.

Are there replacements, and any that don’t require disassembling the column?
 
The hole for the wiring is an easy one all you need is a grommet the correct size for the hole in the floor, you can cut the grommet on one edge so it can be fitted without disturbing the wiring. Not sure where you would get a new boot for the column base but maybe it could be split and glued after it's been wrapped around the column if you do find one. Just an idea but you can get universal CV joint gaiters for drive shafts that are already split and are supplied with glue, if you can get one big enough it could possibly be cut down to fit

The pedal seals, I think, were just foam rubber pushed over the stem of the pedals under the floor - at least they are on my Minor which has a similar pedal set up. Mine have long since disappeared and I rely on the carpet to keep the draughts out :)
