Given that the van is almost on the road, i've come up with a few more ideas that are bound to delay things for another couple of weeks...

Tyres - i've got a set of 15inch Rostyles that I'm tarting up which will need some new rubber.

I don't want anything too wide (i've changed!) - heavy steering or too low - top end speed is already woeful.

Thinking something like around 185/195 wide and 50/70 deep.
Planning on using normal car tyres - what is the weight of a PB and does this effect what tyres can be fitted?

The look is important (I haven't change that much!) what are you guys using? got any pictures? Many thanks.
 
funnily enough am off to get some tyres today - going to go for van/commercial rated on my standard commer 14" rims

I wasnt happy with my hub adapters so I am going to have some "Minilites" forged 15" by 5.5J with offset and PCD to suit. Will use Yoko A048R 195/55 rubber.

Still mulling this one over, just been for a walk around the work carpark with a tape measure trying to get a good idea of what would look okay.

This is quite useful, though is putting me off the low profile tyres as even dropping to 55s would see alomost a 20% drop in gearing - something the van doesn't need!

By my rough measurements the standard commer tyre is about 730mm in diameter and therefore a circumference of around 2290mm. With 5inch rims something like 185 or 195x80x15 would have a minimal (5-7%) dip in gearing.

shag it - i wouldn't be driving a commer if practicality came into it!

sam, why dont you get a rover p5 axle as its the same pcd but has a 3.5 diff ( i think) then you grt real long legs and low profiles [8D]

i might investigate the p5 axle route at later date, expecially as the van seems quite happy doing corners in 3rd and 30mph in 4th...

As for tyres i went for 195/65/R15 Avon CR322. These are a 'commercial' grade tyre with a load rating of 95t. was going to used car tyres but the only ones they had in my size were 88t, and i think the old girl is too fat for these.
