Time for a new project....

With great sadness my other project had to go - The '77 Celica GT Liftback I was doing. Since the garage fell on top of it, I've struggled to find a reasonable cost to pull the body back into shape - it was beyond my skills. After much deliberation I got a good offer on it so it went - very very bad day. Was my second one and I love those cars as much as Commers - pic below of my previous ST model.

So was looking at something new not yet, need to save but any ideas - do love the Rapiers but too expensive...was looking at this on Ebay expecting £2-£2.5k but went for sh*t loads considering the work needed.

Ideas for something different and quirky and relatively quick?

Right, here goes:

I've gone for something classic, but not too slow (needs work):

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volvo-Amazon-4-Door-Barn-Find-Showing-19000-Miles-One-Owner-plus-me-/131139977868?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item1e888d428c

A potential modern classic:

And something quirky:

That Amazon is nice..always loved them and the P1800's. Fiat used to have a 20V Turbo LE a few years back, like a rocket, the Barchettas are nice but LHD unfortunately. The less said about the French thing, the better ;-)

Thanks for posting, if it was nearer I would look at the Volvo I reckon - sort of project I'm after work wise.

A friend of mine had one of those in the 1980's, but he found his legs were too long and his arms too short to drive it comfortably! (He was normal shape, the problem was the car!)

I have a 1973 fuel injected version of that Triumph Estate under cover out the back yard. Rust is a very big problem with these models, which is strange as I also have a 1969 Mk1 2.5pi Saloon which has next to no rust. I'm sure the factory must have changed their painting processes to save costs, most likely. It has also been suggested that the auto industry changed to thinner higher carbon steel in the early 70's. These 2 aspect combined could explain why pre 70's cars always seem to be better restoration projects.

Cheers Stephen

Think you're right...in Budapest this weekend, only classics so far are Trabants...bloody awful

I am not a person, I am a number, 395 actually......Be seeing you!
If I told you I was a pathological liar, would you believe me?

Did more shovelling than a fatty at McDonalds on the Celica Mr P, solid body is key. Alfa nice but they've put the wheel on the wrong side - crazy! Budapest was for a bit of romance so defo not to see Andy :)
