Hi All.
Back to the Dodge. Having fixed the clutch problem, she was now roadworthy. I could now concentrate on getting this fine lady up too scratch, what was under the spit and polish[?]. Only one way to find out, take off some of this paint.
I rubbed and rubbed, the coat was fairly thick, but i managed to get some off. This was going to take some serious hard work on my own.
I decided to have her priced up for a respray. At least with the exterior looking good[8D]it would give me a starting point and some incentive to get things done.
He said he wouldnt mind if i gave him a mention, so here it is, Tony from BODY CARE (southwest)ltd. gave her a long hard look,(bit like paddington bear this)
and decided £1250.00p should do the job.
Was it worth it[?] of course it was. I said i was going to look after her, and i will.
I took her home to think on a theme. Old Bob, the previous owner was a bit of a rock & roll fanatic, and loved everything American. So i decided on a Stars & Stripes theme. I spoke to Tony the sprayer and we came up with the idea of the "OLD GLORY" american flag, down each side of the van, but as a ghost effect under the final coat of laquer, this would have a blue pearl over an off-white base-coat. STUNNING
im drooling now.
This decided, i stripped out the interior to see what lay underneath. Here follow a couple of pictures to wet your appetites, the first is the dash removed and then led out.
Passengers side.
Drivers side.
Dashboard removed.
This is the final picture for now,of the interior full of all the Brightwork ie;- Bumpers/chrome/mirrors/wheel trims/interior wood panels, etc before she goes into the paintshop. This lot will need sorting, re-chroming where needed, covering on interior panels, new carpets etc.
Inside the back doors.
As you can see from this last picture, there are a few spares which i will sort through and put up for swap or sale on this site at a later date.
