We have soldered the coiled wire inside this some three times now, over the years:)

So when the fuel gauge stayed on empty again, I thought I knew the problem... however:

Tha camera just picks up a fluid line[:0][xx(]
Now that's never happened to us before[V]
 
If you can,t get an original float, then improvise one from another cheap sender off Epay ;)

A self tapper might seal it till the Mini one arrives:)
 
Will petrol not dissolve the filler? If you want to bodge it, couldn't you melt some plastic into the crack?

Looks like it might have been alright 2 years ago but now there's alcohol mixed in[:0]:(

have you got a soldering iron? (obviously yes because you said about soldering before) Why don't you just run the soldering iron over the crack and let the heat seal it??

Interesting Colin, so have you done this before on a petrol tank component that has had petrol inside it[?]
 
LOL...no! but can't see a problem as long as its dried out, I mean people weld up leaky petrol tanks once drained and dry;)

Sure is a relief having a working fuel gauge again, polyester resin repair and all:D
There is merit, however, in a plastic weld solution, which I may try, then keep as a spare after the new one is fitted:)

Arrived this morning, but too much petrol now in the tank, and we have to wait untill the level is back below the sender opening before sender removal again:)
 
Well the polyester repair didn't disappear in the short term and didn't even leak:I

But this new float fits beautifully with no adjustment needed[^]

Better design, also lighter:p so should float even better:D
