Well was desperatly trying to get hold of a Commer for the weekend, Nick had told me about this one in Kelvedon.
So i stopped off and looked round it on Friday, first impressions were not that great.
All the fluted panels were gone and had been repaired with flat steel sometime ago, this had now come to the endof it's life and the filler was being pushed out by the rust behind it. Passenger side was the worse with it looking like it had bad boils everywhere.
It was a diesel which again I didn't want and it was a high top not a pop top that i really want.
Interior was there in places, othe parts not and it needed some tlc but it was sortable.
I asked what the vendor was looking for the answer was fourteen and a half, so i said i would think about it and left.
After alot of pressure from Scott ( Comm-Pete ) to go back and get it,( Come m8, you could be at commerfest by Saturday or even Friday night) and ( clem it m8 even if you don't like it just get it ) i shot back only to find no one home, waited for 2 hours and then left.
Spoke to the chap on the phone on saturday and wanted to come over but he was out at a bike rally all day so arranged to go over early Sunday morning as i was off to the Emirates to watch Arsenal in the afternoon.
Again i checked the price, his reply " fourteen and half".
Got there 7:30 am looked around the van again and thought sod it i'll have it. " Can i make an offer " i said, would you take £1350.
He looked at me blankly and said " I think we have got our wires crossed. I want Four and Half, four and half what i asked thinking jesus he only wants £450 for it, lol, wishfull thinking £4500 was the price.
I couldn't help myself, I actually laughed in his face, didn't mean to. Told him he had 2 hopes " Bob " and " None " and left with my wallet of £1450. Oh Well.
