Steering fun

Hi peeps,

As these wagons havent got the lightest steering has any1 done anything to help this or fit powersteering?

I've not heard of anyone actually doing it but there was talk about fitting the electric power steering from a Corsa or similar. This means cutting the column to insert the gearing so I would only trust that to an expert welder myself. Saying that it's a common mod on VW's so it can be done.
I actually find the normal steering OK, a little bit heavy at parking speeds but surprisingly light on the move. A lot depends on the wheels and tyres I've got pretty standard width rubber inflated to 45 psi and it's fine.

I heard of the electric 1 off the corsa as i was told i should put that n my mgb but never thought of it for the commer. Ive only moved it at extremely slow speeds as the brakes or handbrake dont work. The steering is heavy at that point. Covld be other probs tho.

A good greasing and tyre pressure check first. Jack the front up and see if everything moves freely but at very low speeds it will be heavy.

Ill do that first and put the electric n the back burner till i get her n the road.
