Starter Motor issue!

Hi peeps.

Been out on the van today and attempted to start it for the first time in over a year and a half and she wont start:(
I turn the ignition and it just goes weeeeeeeeeeeeeee? The starter motor doesn't kick in and try to start it for some reason? Is it seized?
Could a whack not sort it? I haven't got any petrol running through at the moment but i guess that doesn't really matter yet as i need the engine to turn in order for the pump to work!

Any ideas. Do these things just pack up working if left standing for a time?

Could be pinnion stuck and not throwing out. Could also be lack of current, check battery level and earths ;)

Sounds like the pinion is stuck Scott, easily sorted :)

Pull the starter off, it,s the gear on the end of the shaft that is supposed to slide up and down, you will see it ;)

But mine isn't one of these types???
