Shifter

One of the things I liked about Rach's dark one when I went out for a ride in it the other day was the Scat shifter as it looked a darn sight easier than fishing for gears!

For the dark ones it appears they have three choice in Empi, Scat or Behr, these are all made for the dark ones.

My question therefore is do any of you (particularly hot rod guys and gals) know of anyone who would do this work on a commer or who sell custom/universal sets that we could test out and set up?

For those who have no idea what I am on about:

I do one
Its not on my web site as i have never fitted one so I dont know how well it works, or even how to fit it. Yank owners seem to be the main customers.

Cheers

Hey jules how much are you looking for for a preliminary fit?

I will try and find a suitable chap or chapette for the work!

I've just fitted one to the Mini[8D]. It raises the lever point of the gear change further up the stick so a bit more effort is required to change but the throw of the lever is reduced. Trouble is the Commer leverage point is already quite high but I'm sure some one has improved on it somewhere.

I import them from the US. The retail price is £79 (although it will be going up soon as the $ keeps strengthening). The cost price is approx £45. As a commervanfan I can do you one at cost. I have no idea how suitable they are for commers or indeed anything else as I have never fitted one to anything, but they sell quite well to Yank owners.
I very probably wont be fitting one as I will be designing my own dash mounted lever (Renault/Fiat style) & linkage to suit the O/D box Ive fitted and the fact that I want to seat 3 abreast at the front.
I will try to take a photo of the kit soon and maybe you can see if its worth doing.

I will be interested; need to speak to someone who knows more than me! or maybe I should consider your setup ;)

I'm interested too! I've just spent the past hour searching the web for them! Probably lots better than the porrage stirrer I currently have :D
