Hello Commerades! I'm back or more accuratly Jessica is back. She's a little sleepy from her overwintering but she's taxked and tested and ready to go. And she is going, however there have been a couple of prolems. First one, she's getting a little warm. Not like her. But she konked out last weekend and didn't want to start again. after about 30 mins she was up and running. I think fuel vaporisation, but I have braded hoses so a little surprised at that. I've flushed out the radiator just in case and so far so good, but the weather isn't as hot as last weekend.

The other problem is the overdrive. Kicks in ok, but after a little while gives up in third (ok in fourth) then after a while fourth goes too... I haven't checked the gearbox oil but does anyone have any other ideas? I'm starting to think the solenoid is dead, but I'm open to suggestions.

In other news I'm now the proud owner of a Suzuki GS500 so I'm a proper biker now :eek:). I've got a serious traffic jam on the drive!

Spooky - similar woes to Harvey with fuel and OD issues last weekend but haven't had time to properly investigate. As for your travellers pics NYT has a new owner and has been on here in the last few days[^]

welcome to the world of two wheels what do the kids think of it?
I use to take my son out on the back he would be to big now or I am too old :I he loved it,my daughter hated it cried her eyes out when mum got on a gsx ? (it was a big one):I& started it up,I never got to ride it that day :(

check the gearbox oil level, if its low it will jump in and out ;)

will check the oil. It was ok last time I looked but she has been dribbling over the drive all winter!

Jess has been putting in great service today lugging the trailer to and from the tip. Quite hot today to and no fuel vaporisation so things might be a little better.

I need to stop playing on the bike and give Jess some attention!

Harvey was pressed into tip duty today as well - also picking up stuff from Ikea:I and he started misbehaving again. He just didn't like starting when hot, simple fix though - just topped up the dashpot on the SU :) The popping and back-firing on the overrun stopped as well.

Its low oil pressure - not enough oil or too thin. Wont be solenoid or it wouldnt kick in at all. If u very unlucky will be cone clutch.

oil level was fine. I've just checked the lock out switch and it looks like its dead. The relay seems to be dead too! Looks like I've frazzled the electrics at some point [V]

Hope it's not the overdrive itself. When it kicked out the power was dropped (i.e. the tell-tale light went out) which I presume wouldn't be the case if the cone had gone ( the power would still be there and the overdrive would disengage? )

Anyway anyone got a spare relay ?
