Took delivery of a pair of NOS rear wheel cylinders yesterday. The ones on the van are perfect but at $5 for both i couldnt pass them up[^]
The question is this - they are the earlier type for the PA with the slots for the handbrake lever. As there is no rear handbrake on iceman this would possibly mean the piston could move forward enough to expose the rubber seal and even potentially cause a sudden complete brake failure if it went far enough. I know this can happen as it was the cause of the brake failure that origanaly made me decide to lay up iceman. It happend because i had fitted the rear brake shoes but then forgot to adjust them up before a test run. There is sufficient travel possible to allow the rear part of the piston to be exposed. Obviousley once the shoes are adjusted up against the drum this cant happen but it does feel like it is a possible issue. Any thoughts?
