Rear Wheel Brake Cylinders

Bessie has one looking a little weepy with MOT approaching, and has an odd pair at the back as well :I

Speedys have fronts but not rears listed - anyone got a pair available[:X][?]

as a P.S. to the above - as things could be a little desperate for these - anyone know of a cross-over something non-commer that would have had these fitted[?]

Speedys do repair kit but really hope to find matched pair as don't balance wonderfully - all suggestions welcome

Try these; www.classic-brakes.co.uk , or phone 01626 891645, he is based in Devon and does have Commer cylinders! Also worth ringing Simon Cooper at Classic Parts (Leeds) he usually has Commer brake cylinders in stock, tel. 0113 2502862. Good luck;)

Classic parts is listed on the main site kes :D
If you have joy with classic brakes will add them too!

Fanks everso for replies - have done the email one and hope to to the phoning on Monday - will let you know if any good.

As to why two different on the back - I've no idea, am hoping it's not because you can't get proper ones for love nor money[:0]

hi all i am new here ,just getting all my brakes engine and all reddy
for the big trip i am trying to go from jersey to switzerland going saterday and just seen oil comeing out rear bearing thur hole[V]i think the new parts will be here friday from classic parts:I

If it is the half shaft oil seal that has gone, they are a right pig to do. I had to cut the old bearing off with the oxy torch. Then fit the oil seal and new bearing, knocking the bearing on with a piece of scaffold tube [xx(]
When you re-fit it, make sure all the holes line up, otherwise oil wont drip out of the tell-tale, if the seal goes again ;)

Hi, I am just getting stuck into sorting / listing all my Commer PA /PB parts out again, over the next few weeks, after various set backs here over this year !! & being very busy with Imp work. I may be taking a small selection of new Commer parts to the Great Dorset Steam Fair next weekend onwards, if anybody is going, as there is always a few PA & PB's there ? we are at the top left of autojumble row i (i for Imp ) look for the Rootes signs. I do have a pair of new rear cyls & set of shoes too if needed ? Cheers Malcolm 01823 350360

"Keeping the Commer Alive & kicking" !

Thanks Malcolm, hopefully have got mine covered now (postman willing) with many thanks to combined efforts of Chris & Tim and Martin. Bessie & I love you too[:X]:)

Might be worth giving Dorset Steam Fair a mention on shows thread - I know it's supposed to be an amazing event - loads of our local vintage crowd travel down for that one. Even more interesting as there could be some commer spares there :p
