q for admin re jag rear ?

hi bud, i was looking on your web site on your conversion to jag rear axle.

it looks a reasonable tackleble conversion, how did you find the ride ? im assuming it should be good being irs but i was wondering which model axle you used as i know they vary in widths,

with the commer axle being around 57" wide, i think its the s type thats about right, but not 100% on that.

also, does this when fitted bring the back end down any as i want it lowered all round :D

sorry about the q's.

cheers. [8D]

The ride is much more firm at the back but it's still sloppy at the front - I may follow sunbeamsam and go slightly lower at the front for the cornering one day.

I bought a D reg Sovereign a lot like this.. http://www.jaguarclassicparts.com/html/Trust/jdht_collection/1987JAGUARXJ6SERIES3SOV.html

It is slightly wide; there was some adjustment to the inner cill to ensure you can actually change the wheel

I'm pretty certain it actually raises the rear end; I'd have to measure to be certain

ok, thanks for that bud.:D

getting a price for some brackets made and welded
to put the leafs under the axle, very low budget
im afraid. :(

I paid £400 for a driving Jag that just failed it's MOT, stipped it and sold loads of bits (interior alone was over £200!) so don't just think about getting the axle

good idea :D

i was thinking of doing the same for the engine and box,
as i still like the idea of rover v8 and auto box,
but unfortunatly even they are starting to get a bit thin on the ground. there's a p6 complete for 350, but thats down kent way,
so you have to take collection into the equation [:0]

has to have an auto box as i dont want to start messing sorting
out gear linkages etc, so ive even been thinking about the
toyota surf range 2.5 or 3lt deisels, its gonne be mid mounted
so space wont be a problem...... they just dont have that
luvly v8 burble !! :D:D:D ( better mpg though ! :p )

we'll see what comes up once she's back on all 4 wheels. :D

I paid £60 for my second V8, £120 for my second BW autobox but that doesn't take into account the first failures of course! and if you have certain auto boxes please remember you need to connect the kickdown (some you don't) otherwise a rebuild is pricey I can tell you!
