Primers? especially High Build info

I have been using a mixture of UPOL Acid 8 Etch Primer on my repairs and panels and UPOL Weld-thru on the joins.

Is it good practise to give the Etch a key and then give it a couple of good coats of UPOL High Build Primer ready for the paint or primer or whatever is best over the high build?

Any advice is greatly appreciated, or alternative ideas!

I like to use etch primer or weld through primer (depending on whether I'm welding through it or not!) after that it a struggle with a rattle can before the wind and rain comes again...

so don't take any advice on bodywork from me!

I visited my friend who is the main bodyworker / sprayer at the local workshop and he pretty much agreed with what I was thinking of doing.

The problem with Acid 8 is the cost, something like 20 quid a can [:0]

But the aim with my van is to Etch Primer the repairs as I go, then when they are all done I can flat the primer and rest of thebodywork, any bits that need filling can be bare metalled and sorted and then the when all the bodywork is sorted I will use some 2K or High Build primer over the whole thing.

I am still open to suggestions, especially if there are better ideas of doing things! :p
