Pinking

Hi,

Tramper is pinking really badly, not when idling, but going along the flat and sometimes even downhill!!!

I have fully advanced (or retarded? - whichever way it is to stop it pinking!) the distributer. I have electronic points, simon bbc ones, fitted about 5 years ago.
I guess my next step is to have the timing properly adjusted.
But I'm wondering whether the electronic points aren't doing their job properly and whether anyone has experience of this?????

Could it be a leak in the inlet manifold? I am sure someone with a little more knowledge will know!

Could be an air leak in the manifold gasket, as Chris says. Could also be sticking auto advance in the dizzy. Hopefully it's just timed a bit too far advanced

All that and check to make sure the pipe from the inlet manifold to the dizzy vac advance hasn't fell off or snapped.
