Paint prep

Hello everyone, well I’ve finally started the prep work for the spray job this afternoon which I’ve been avoiding for a while !, brought the paint last week primer n top coat “ Celulose”, but because I’ve used a oil based red oxide on the repairs and new panels I’ve had to buy a isolator primer to stop any paint reactions and then found out the isolator is no good on bare metal So I’ve brought a etch primer for areas we’re I rub through to the metal. It’s took me 6 hours today to do the drivers door and all the front having to refill small marks ect, my biggest mistake was using the oil based red oxide and using a brush to put it on its added hours rubbing the brush marks out !!, anyway I hope my setbacks will help others avoid making the same mistake 8EB6D4F8-5496-49B5-A7D5-32EE1F081BE8.jpeg

Ahh gutted. Every day’s a school day. I’m sure the end result will be worth all the hard work. :)

Hope the respray went well. I painted my car in cellulose last week, but fortunately didn't suffer any reactions. However, while flatting on Monday I did discover that the paint was a bit thin in one or two places, so gave it some further coats (see vive le rust porn in other projects). I suspect that you have a lot more flatting and polishing to do than me as the car has significantly less surface area than a van and I have already done the bonnet, wings and tailgate. Looking forward to seeing your results.

Hopefully I’ll finish rubbing down in the morning then get it all masked up and warm the spray gun up !. I’m getting a little worried about spraying it to be honest I think I’ll have a hour on YouTube before bed , I’ll try to get some pictures of the stages when I do it

Hello everyone, as promised a few pictures from a very busy weekend !!, still lots to do and I’ll be leaving the paint alone for a couple of weeks then flat n polish or something like that ??, we will see because I did want it satin
