hi been down to martins at the weekend with chico trying fix overdrive. hit a few problems and wondered if anyone had any experiences with them?

solenoid works ok but when switch the overdrive switch nothing is happening at gearbox end. isn't an electrical problem but me and martin got stuck with what to try next:(. any ideas appreciated.

got new springs fitted now sitting about 3inches higher:D, thanks again martin for all of your help and karen for the cups of coffee.

I have an overdrive ready to go in over the winter, so I'd be interested in knowing what the prolem is. Ruairdh has been having similar problems.

As far as I know (I'm ready to be corrected!) the electrical system causes a valve to move in the overdrive, so that fluid (gearbox oil?) either pushes the overdrive on or pushes it off. To me, it sounds like a seal in the "fluid bit" (all technical I know...) has gone.

There is a quite comprehensive section on the overdrive in the manual which will be of use.

So in conclusion, its an overdrive out and refurbish job I'm afraid.

worth checking the oil level, if its low it can cause o/d problems. also there is a rod than can be adjusted under the cover plate, or its just knackered [:0]

Oil lever and grade - suggest straight 80 - which I believe is what Laycock advised.
