Opinions please on Classic Insurance arrangement fee

I have used Lancaster Insurance for many years now, but getting fed up with having to haggle with them each time in recent years because the overall price seems to jump up dramatically. This time they are asking 16% more than last year. By comparison my pay rise was 2%. What is going on?
In the last 2 or 3 years I have had to spend time on the phone with them asking for justification of the hike in price, then we usually settle on a small but reasonable difference compared to last year.
The van insurance is due again and this time the 'arrangement' fee is £49.50. This compares to the basic premium of just £73 and legal protection is £29.50. ( I can remember when that used to be just £1). It's the arrangement fee that winds me up.
I might try elsewhere, fed up with these insurance scams each year. I have certainly started switching the house insurance and my wife's modern car insurance each time, might do the same with the classic as well.

Cheers, Mick

Have a word with RH Specialist. My premium is about £90 unlimited mileage with free breakdown cover, never have any issues with them and they have never charged me a 'set up fee'. With a limited mileage policy you could probably get it down to £70 or there abouts.

As it happens I filled in the RH website quote enquiry yesterday so just waiting to get in touch after the weekend. Seem to get good reviews, so let's see what they come up with.

Peter James Insurance have a Quick Quote facility on their website. I have been with them since they introduced their Classic Fleet policy, years ago now.

Peter Best is another good one. Always seems to be better to call them rather than just rely on the online quote though.

I had a claim with rh (ers syndicate ? now btw)with my modern micro total write off due to rolling it my new car was transferred to the policy as they added it for 40 notes as my policy had not been cancelled giving me the impression I would be about the sane at renewal, but When renewal came through I had to seriously think about selling it! Just shopped around in the end & got it £100 cheaper but higher excess, not sure I got it right. But I got to keep the car!
The bluebird is with rh
The v8 is with classic line all mods declared.

I ended up having the annual conversation with Lancaster. "why has my policy gone up nearly 20% and what is the 'arrangement' fee for?"............"oh, that's just the 'computer' sir", I'm sure we can look at that for you"
Anyway, they removed the additional hike back to last year's total, so after the usual angst all back to normal. Why do they do this to long term customers?
Next year I may try RH.

Here are just a couple. If it gets a bit warmer I'll get it out of the garage and take some more!

Also, I've done a few mods over last 12 months. Electric fan, seat belts, front position for air filter, proper fuse box, leisure battery etc. so I'll write those up separately.
We did not really use the van in 2018 due to other stuff going on and taking all of the time up, but intend to get it on the road properly this year.
