Hello from the cold Yorkshire Dales

I thought it best to introduce myself as I have been poking around your forums for a while now !
I had my first ride in a slyder when I was about 7 it was a BT dodge and it was taking me to A&E !
Then about 5 years ago a mate bought a Commer camper that we bulled up and did some custom shows !!

As for me I run a bodyshop and mainly specialise in SAAB's and do quite a lot of custom work on both British and Yank stuff as well as the odd Hot Rod :D

I hope to find a camper for the summer but we'll see what turns up ;)

I can see we have much in common Mr Sweed.... I'm also into customs and have been bugging the guys on here (whilst secretly picking their brains) as to a build I'm planning after I finish the project car I'm working on at the moment. You'll probably already know a fair amount about it from what you've read whilst lurking on here. Can't say I've much to show you yet but technically I have made a start as I cut the jag up this week and have recovered the IRS. ;) Might not sound like much but has also freed up the space I need to start building a rolling chassis in. For now it will come in handy for storing the items I need to commence the build with.

North Yorkshire ain't far from me so might be picking your brains too soon. :D On here it appears that everyone has to name their vehicle something so I'm calling this project the 'Iron Butterfly' as the theme of the build is 70's custom style. So is quite appropriate I thought. Anyway... welcome from me too!

The commer camper was a mates and we "bulled" it up using 3 tins of filler and one of fiberglass !! I then painted it on the street out side my house in white top, baby blue bottom with purple flames ! It looked better than its sounds honest. I'll try and find some photos of it for you .

Martin I live in a village called Pateley Bridge in between Harrogate and Ripon. My works shop is in a place called Green Hammerton on the A59 to York !

I was talking to James just before christmas as I had heard that he was living up "The Hill" and I asked him if you where still into the commers thinking you might know where would be best to look !
He said you had the odd one or two kicking about, think that was a bit of an understatement [:0]
( have you still got the Hot rod !? )

So are there any campers left or do you own them all now Martin :D

Ideally I would like a tax exempt camper with crew bus windows not bothered about it having an engine (got a plan for that!!)

Could you get a camper with slyders that would be very [8D][8D]

Not desperate to buy anything just yet or overly bothered about it been tax exempt as you can buy a lot of tax discs with the money you save on rust repairs;)

Sliding door vans are the rarest, I know of one in camper form and 3-4 vans. I have a Slyder van.
I really collect the commercial variants and at the moment I'm selling off campers, mostly projects.
