New windscreen rubber? Martin??

Hi,

Think its nearly time for me to replace my windscreen rubber and do some work to the rust around the edges, just hope I haven't left it too late and the job is now too big, maybe it is only rust holding it in place in some areas [!]

Where do I get one?? Martin??
Also might need some panels soon for the front skirt and nearside inner sill fairly soon.

Why do I leave it till winter is approaching to get around to do body work...!!!???

I got one off Martin, bit tricky to fit. It's a good time to treat the rust when you've got the windscreen out, if you have a dry day.

Hi Nancy, I did the screen surround repairs on Harvey earlier this year, got all the repair sections and screen rubber off Martin. I found the screen went in a treat - with a little help from Bernie

Hi ive managed to trace the puddle in the footwell its coming from under my screen rubber has any one used Sealant when fitting the screen and rubber or should I just go for a new one ???

You can try Tigerseal if the screen rubber is still pliable enough to get the nozzle under but a nice new seal is better[^]. Unfortunately when I took the screen out to cure leaks and some minor repairs there was a lot of work needed to the screen frame[xx(]

Are there any tell tail rust scabs poking out from under the screen rubber?

If you have found water in the footwell then I think it's time to replace the windscreen rubber ASAP. Obviously you wasn't to eliminate that area where the water could be coming through.

Theres no rust scabs anywhere around the screen inside or out but when it rains its a fair ammount of water leaking in manily from the bottom of the drivers corner of the screen .
Im guessing its been like this before because the only welding i can see on the van os down at the bottom where the water gathers and the square guite for the wires to run in is rotton at the bottom again where the water sits .
Looks like a screen out job over winter
Whats one like to fit i fitted one to my bay window van using the string method im guseeing this is the same procedure ???

I had the same, painted under the seal with rust inhibiter just in case, using a brush pushed inside so no need to remove screen..then shoved a window sealant nozzle in there...worked a treat no.more leaks

That's good news, like Jim says wait for a dry day (ha ha ha ) try and get some Aquasteel under the seal and after a couple of days squirt some Tiger seal under the rubber, screen side and frame side.

That sounds like Martin supplied the panels for the screen surround?? Is this true, do you supply them martin??

Just looked at your pics Panky, Terrifeid about what my screen surrounds must look like under the rubber [!]
I have many areas of bubbly rust down the o/s pillar... uh-oh!!

Is it time to give up on the old girl.....!? We are debating moving into a house for the winter..

Don't give up on your van nancy, any problem will get resolved eventually. Do you live on your van all year round? Fantastic if you do.

HaHA, yep, I'll be climbing the walls, staring out the windows, one flat I lived in for a while in Brighton, I used to sit out on the windowsill to get as close to outside as I could..!

Yes, I live in my van year around, it'll be 10 years if I stick out this winter, although I do now also have the luxury of my fella's converted horsebox parked nextdoor..

Being in a house does mean I don't need to be in tramps whilst sorting out the windscreen, which could be a bonus!
