new carb

i should think it would be close enough ,so long as its not miles out it will be ok ,all will be revealed when you smoke the tyres on the dyno [:0]:D:):p[8D]

"you were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off"

What are the benefits of swapping to a Weber carb - economy / performance and which models will be straight swap ?

My carb is running far to rich and may need a full rebuild, if a Weber makes more sense it might be just as cost effective to replace it

Any thoughts

Thanks

The standard carb is good when set up correctly. I have a friend who is setting one up for me. The trick is to get the float level spot on. If the spindle hole is worn (common), you've not much chance of getting it to run well.
I run a webber and even that has its problems [V]

I had my Zenith rebuilt by a company called Carburettor Exchange in Leighton Buzzard, Beds and its spot on, when I had the van tested I got the tester to emmision test it and it was running at 2.5% CO on idle. The rebuild was £75.00 + vat and worth every penny, the Commer runs like a swiss watch.[8D]

Thanks for all the advice, good to know the Zenith is worth sticking with - at least for now ...

I've got to agree getting carbs setup spot on makes all the difference, I thought our Triumph Stag was running well already but I then had it serviced by a specialist who advised the twin Zenith Strombergs were 'well out' but had put them right - the transformation was amazing !

We're now getting 24mpg from a 3 litre V8 auto :), sadly significantly more than from the Commer at the moment :(
