Need help decideding to renevate?

The oppurtunity has come up from a family inhertitance to get a A reg Commer campervan on the road, i would like to know are they worth alot of money as me taking it would cause all the usual family problems, so i dont want to do that. The other question is for a novice are they a good project to take on? This one hasnt moved for some years and not been started for 10years.
I would love to get it going to continue to getting good family holidays out of a van my grandad has owned from new. Also my nans wish would be to see this ole van moving again as alot of memories, as you can imagine.
Would love some advice, thank you Harry?

First of all Harry, Welcome to the forum:) and secondly, sorry about your loss!

Whether the van is worth 1p or 4k is totally in the eye of the beholder!

If you want this van because you love it and want to restore it and cherish the wonderful tyimes it will bring you then go for it and all the help and support you could wish for is right here!!

If not...........I'll pick it up and take it out of your life for a reasonable fee!!

That wasn't meant to sound how it did lol, I'm the resident clown:D

Best thing to do is spend a few hours reading articles in these forums and then decide!

Bet you'll be hooked!!

Hi Harry, welcome welcome welcome.

A reg aye? Does that make it a '63 then? Some people on here like the early models. Basically reflecting what Enigma says; it's worth as much as someone is willing to pay. Condition of vans can very massively, so can the price. Get some photos up if you can.

Hi and welcome. Unfortunately the current sale prices do not match what they are really worth[V] However, depending on condition, you may be able to resurect it, without spending a fortune :) Max price we have seen so far, is in the £5000 region.
However, there are quite a few people who for one reason or another, are prepared to spend far more on restoring their vans. Usually it's a family connection, but they can then guarantee many years of good Commering ahead.
As Commerchris would say 'Pics please'.
If you decide not to go ahead with it, there are plenty of people willing to take on projects (including myself), so one way or another, it will survive ;)

Hi Harry,

Gotta be saved somehow, would love to see some pics if you can get some.

Suitability as novice project depends entirely on condition really - it's the bodywork that can be the worst killer..... maybe the buyers guide might give you an idea of how to check it over....

Engine could well be seized along with brakes & clutch - but there are ways of freeing them if you're dedicated :)

Hi Harry - welcome to the Madhouse[8D], if you haven't already then check out this recent topic. It sums up the general feeling on here so if you want to restore to make a profit then you would be hard pushed - but if you want to do it for the sheer pleasure of ownership and to keep your families van running for future generations to enjoy then it is worth every penny [^]
