Yep, seconds from disaster yesterday. On my way home from work and noticed a burning smell in the cab. Got worse very quickly and then smoke started pouring out the battery box in the cab floor. Pulled over, extinguisher in hand and realised the battery cover has two of those half turn screws! Panicking now but found a screwdriver on the seat I'd used a few days ago (glad I'm an untidy bugger), got the cover off and managed to disconnect the positive terminal... Turned out the grommet seems to have failed and the positive lead has chafed through on the metalwork. Now got an extra big hole where its arced out on and melted the steel. Get checking those grommets!!!
And just to top off the day after sorting that small drama out literally half a mile up the road the plastic hose split that connects the clutch master and slave cylinder so I got towed home and finally finished sorting that out at half eleven last night on my pitch black gale force wind blown rain soaked driveway. Enjoyed that lots.
