Measuring pistons

I'm going to order a new set of piston rings and whilst I believe the pistons are standard size I thought it'd be good to check.

Is there a specific point to measure piston diameter at or is it just at the widest point? Manual has sizes but no measurement point.

Thanks

If the pistons are over sized then they will be stamped on the top. The measuring point is 15.8mm from the bottom of the piston and 90 deg to the gudgeon pin. A standard piston should measure between 81.514mm and 81.565mm (the range across all piston grades) When you get your rings push the upper compression ring half way down the bore with a piston and measure the ring gap with feeler gauges, it should be between .6mm and .81mm
