Marshalls airfield 100th birthday

Hi all. Spent an enjoyable day (despite the hangover) at the 100th birthday celebration at the Marshalls Airfield in Cambridge on Sunday. Went mostly for the classic cars, but was very impressed with the Red Arrow display. Had hoped to see some classic campers but no luck. Did see, and fell in love with, a classic Jaguar and was hoping that someone can tell me what type it is? See the photo below.

Just a shame there weren't any Commers, although the night before, (when i was working on the hangover) i got talking to a bloke and his sons who had one from new when the sons were just ankle biters, and they had nothing but good things to say about them. And they now want to see our Tourstar. I think one of the lads and his girlfriend might even be interested in buying a van....
 
Cheers. There were lots of cars there that i would have liked to park on my drive, but the Jag really did it for me.
Will have to buy a lottery ticket before i can ever get my hands on one. i just googled them and there's one up for sale for auction, estimated $85,000 - $115,000. I could buy a new house for that...

surprise you still have a living room window!

We had a lancaster, spitfire and hurricane over the house last weekend. They were heading over to Lucars air show in Fife. It was a beautiful sunny day and you could hear them from miles away!

I love those Jags too, such wonderful lines. When I think about owning one I just think a) I can't afford one and b) it would never look right!

is that a chipmunk taking off in the background of the photo? I've flown one of them!

Because we live in Lincoln, we see the Red Arrows most days practicing over RAF Scampton, the Lancaster, Spitfires and Hurricane are regular visitors over our rooftop on their way back to Conningsby and we had the Vulcans based at Waddington when I was growing up (very noisy) and Dave used to work on the airfield when they were based at Waddington, so we are used to them and don't take any notice....

No only kidding I love watching the Arrows and seeing the Memorial flight go over - long live "Bomber County":):):)

That explains where the red E-type was heading that I overtook (yes, I overtook an E-type) on the A14 yesterday.

A friend of mine flies a Hurricane out of Duxford, but unfortunately he is recovering in hospital in Canada having just crashed in a Tiger Moth which suffered complete engine failure in Ottawa.

Woosters, he does sound poorly:-( hope he will be ok. One of the pilots that fly with the red arrows lives in my village too. And that Frogeye......hmmmmmm VERY NICE!
