LPG Question

Service history[?] unfortunately dolly doesnt evan have an old tax disk [:(!][:(!][:(!] lol. i only ask because i think its well low and dont want to put unleaded in without addative in case it damages my engine[B)]. i aasume if its already been converted and i stick fuel in with addaitive it wont do any harm will it[?]
 
I wouldn't assume its been converted[:0]

Unknown if ours is but we keep an eye on compression and valve clearances and so far, touch wood, been good.

Unlike the CF, legendary for VSR[V]
 
Wouldn't do any harm at all, I use Castrol Valve Master.

I'd still look into whether you can mate the XUD to the Comme rgearbox - saves a lot of hassle with linkages.

yh gonna look into it but problem is where do i start lol, grown up working on cars and done alot of diesel conversions but never done anything like that?
 
have you considered a diesel running on bio-fuel
Apparently the older the engine the more likely that veggie oil fuel will work without issue, Commers that are diesel are usually/always a perkins diesel, they should run on whatever the fuel pump can cope with

I was running my 2005 renault megane 1.5dci on a 50/50 mix of diesel and pure cooking oil straight from tescos at £1 per litre without any issues. with diesel prices at £1.49 a litre here I was saving around £15 a tank using the 50/50 mix, consumption did drop from 68mpg to 65mpg but thats not a lot

I was tempted to try it on my freelander, but the manual specifically states that you cant use bio-fuel

yh i have mate, been on a few citroen forums and have found out that if i have a bosche fuel pump (which i do:D) it will run on 100% pure veggie although i would probably do about 60-40 [8D] if i can work out the gearbox issues lol
 
Dora has now been runing on lpg now for a couple of years with no problems of overheating, She had no problems of overheating before the convertion, Due to the Commer having a cast cylinder head I was informed by my local lpg convertion centre not to bother with hardend seats as the problems are with modern engines with aly heads, Because old engines where desighed to run on old 4 star petrol on Lpg the engine is running on a better quality of fuel.
I still run the odd tank of petrol through with an lead aditive in to kee[ the valve seats cotted and this seams to work for me,
Dora has been on a number of long Camping trips over the last couple of years and a lot cheaper onLPG :D
