Locking wire.

Hi I am replacing my front bush, I have discovered there is no locking wire. Where does the locking wire run from and where is the best place to get one from if I can't find one on my van?

So the locking wire goes through a hole on the bolt or is it wrapped around the bolt as you tighten it? Do you have locking wires Martin?

Tighten the bolt fully then put the wire through the hole in the bolt and tighten it off i guess around the shaft should stop it loosening. Any wire will do, i used garden wire, thick fuse wire may do it

A bit of MIG welding wire will do. There is a hole in the upright arm for it to go through.

I have got the front bracket off, what's the best way to tie the end of the locking wire to the chassis?

You don't lockwire anything to the chassis. You lockwire the square headed bolt in the upright arm, to the upright arm. Both have a small hole for this purpose.

Ok, so it's the hole above the bolt?

Andrew! ....after you have tightened the nut onto the bolt, you will see the hole in the bolt...just poke the wire through the hole and then get the 2 ends and twist them together ...a bit like the top of an old wire coat hanger ..or like twisting the wire round an open loaf of bread........OR just put some 'super glue' on the thread before you tighten the nut up LOL .........OR replace the original nut with a 'Nylock' nut! ..OR add another same size nut and tighten them up against each other .OR fit a sprung washer....it's just a safety thing, in case the nut comes loose! ...

Spent 3 months of my apprenticeship lockwiring stuff together. Still got my pliers somewhere, siezed up due to not being used since.

I sorted my garage into 4 piles of stuff.
1. Stuff I`m keeping
2. Stuff I`m not getting rid of.
3. Stuff I might use..one day.
4. Stuff that might come in handy.
