lack of power

On looking into why I have so little power I found that with the throttle pedal all the way to the floor,it only opens the diesel fuel pump up half way,I tried to shorten the adjuster under the pedal but all this did was to pull open the fuel pump arm,on closer inspection of the throttle pedal I found that I only have about 40mm of travel the rest is slack in the throttle pedal itself can this be rectified inside the pedal housing or is it a new pedal jobbey[?]

A possibility is the lever arm is actually loose on the end of the pedal, a blob of weld on the end could sort that out. But I guess the only way to tell is to take the pedal assembly off and have a look. Have you checked that the other end of the cross link shaft isn't being obstructed, it happened to me when part of the rad cooling ducting got bent and I ended up with only half movement on the throttle. The other thing of course could simply be play in the cable.

Thanks panky have checked all through and it definitely is the pedal, will try welding the pedal,(must buy some gas)

Is excess play in the throttle pedal a common problem?

i wish i could weld my my pedal to gain more oomph out of our van but unfortunately angle grinding the body would be the only option on that one:D

Not heard of it before, but there's a first time for everything.

The pivot point was a bit elongated on mine - only a few mm but every little helps, espec when it acts as a lever.
