Could anyone tell me what the top speed of a 1500 petrol engine is , mertle the turtle does about 45 mph when I am gentle , what's top speed

I can make 60 with a 6 speed conversion and SU carb

So 45mph not to bad then out of a standard 1961 1500 petrol engine , i was, not sure if it should go faster but hearing the mods u have done and just get 60mph I,d say 45mph ain't bad , thanks for the response

When my 1725 engine was in standard form it topped out at 65. A comfortable cruising speed was about 45 back then.

Mine used to top out at 55 ish with the 1725. It now does that in first gear..

Can sit at 70 unloaded with an alloy engine but it’s not pleasant 60 much happier when loaded and with a trailer.
Building a new engine to try to make 70 a pleasant experience

I can only dream of 70 , sure what's the hurry 45 to 50 my top speed , 300 cars beeping behind me ,even the farmer in the tractor overtuck me,after trying for about 6miles , he did one of them country waves at me I turned off at the next turn in case he was waiting up the road for me , not sure if his face was red from the sun or shouting at me

Haha - it took a lot of work and mistakes to get there but we go to France in it with two kids - every minute counts!
