Well got the Rover axle sorted Tim - P5b one. That's the first item on the 20XE conversion list :)

For the princely sum of £6 and with 2 x Rover wheels on it. Not quite sure why so cheap but sure will find out when I fetch it!

Got it at home finally. All looks great and defo a rover axle! Nearly got a hernia getting it out the car :). Think must be worth more in scrap! Engine and gearbox next. Would an Omega box work or have to, be a Manta as there's a huge price difference

I don't know about the Omega box, possibly, you will have to do some research Jim ;)

An Omega box would fit bit is a fair bit bigger and has a hydraulic clutch (not the end of the world though).

Best option IMHO would be a Carlton 2.0 box. Bit bigger than a Manta, but slightly better ratios.

A lot of the guys who have put a 1.8 box on a Redtop find they are a bit undergeared and rev high. Usable, but not great for cruising.
