Hi there.
I wish I could list my Dad's old Commer vans on here to see what happened to them, but I already know
My Dad had at least three Commer vans that I can remember, all of which he used for white goods delivery from his Caroline Electrics shop in Stafford. He had a big green walk through panel van from the late sixty's (I think) and two 3/4 ton forward cab PA or B's (one green the other blue with a pale blue panel and Caroline Electrics down each side).
They all suffered the same indigent fate! When it became too difficult or costly to keep them on the road, they got dumped in our (very large) garden and, basically, forgotten about. Other abandoned vehicles included two seventy's Vauxhall estates, a mk1 Escort van, a mk1 Transit, a series 1 XJ6, a mk1 Escort 1300GT, a mk1 Mini 1000, and a Renault 16TS. My brothers and I would regularly play in these forgotten gems.
As these vehicles all slowly rotted away a scrap dealer would occasionally come to take a few away, until we eventually sold the house and cleared the remaining few cars (most of which fell apart like burnt paper which the claw tried to lift them).
It's a sad story of the demise of some very nice cars and vans that would have been cherished classics now had they survived.
But I guess it those childhood memories that have drawn me to this forum in search on PA or PB van. It's a bit of a shame that I won't be able to find one of the vehicles my Dad owned, but maybe I'll be able to replicate that two-tone blue Caroline Electrics van sometime
