At the risk of you all laughing at me are all leads the same? just different lengths? Or are there different quality ones or differebt power handling qualities? When I dropped the old gearbox out I kinked one of the leads and now I get a misfire (sounds a bit like firing on 3 cylinders) if I accellerate hard....I'm guessing its the lead causing the problem?
The leads are quite new so I only want to replace the one really, I'm sure if I take the offending article to a motor factors I will be able to buy just the one....was kinda testing the water for other theories aswell.......
You should be able to get just one
Loads of types to choose from, copper or carbon core, different thickness and types of insulating materials and resistance too. Carbon ones tend to break down internally with age too.
"You,re only supposed to blow the bloody SLIDING doors off"
of course i don't mind you asking well to make access to the uppermost bell housing bolts i supported the rear most end of the engine on a trolley jack and lowered it right down...the top of the dizzy almost touches the engine bay and thats where the lead got kinked.....make sense? when I initially tried to start the engine afterwards it was only firing on 3 as the lead had almost popped off the dizzy.....I looked at it and there doesn't 'appear' to be any damage. I refitted the lead and it starts and runs perfect until I'm out on a run and accelerate hard...thats when it starts 'missing' a bit, so I'm just assuming its the lead? I guess it's trial and error so I will have to buy a new lead and hope for the best...
