Has anyone cut their roof open?

Hi All

Just wondering who has cut their van roof open to convert it to a camper?

This is my roof and I am assuming that these are the lines to follow.

If so, where exactly is cut and what is added in to stop the roof warping?

Cheers

Not cut it myself but my Auto-Sleeper roof is cut about 2/3 of the way down the pressings in the roof skin and just behind the recess that runs across and is reinforced with wooden batons that form part of the roof support frame. There are many pop tops out there and each one is different but I think they all use timber to support the big hole. Are you thinking of a pop top or hi-top?

Thinking of the side hinging dormobile look but want it to be as low profile as possible when closed to retain the formula 1 like aerodynamics.

I'm going to be trying (and failing) plenty of mods this year. If only there was a dyno shop within striking distance to get some figures.

First cab off the rank is a weber 32/36 on a stock engine.

Autosleeper. Timber strengthening. The roof locks down around over timbers which would help keep it square when driving? About 7in higher than roof. When raised I can just stand up bare footed at 6’2”
