Gear bushes.

Probably just loosened up a bit with use as they are supposed to be able to swivel slightly in the housing, I wouldn't worry about it. Does the gear change feel and more positive?

Feels much better, it was a little spongy before but much smoother now.

It's a job I need to do on Harvey, I don't think there's any bush left in the front housing:I

There was little evidence if any bushes in either of my housing. I have just taken my van for another drive and she seems fine, one of the bolts won't go all the way back in. I have tightened the other three, the fourth one won't go all the way in. It gets so far and pops and becomes loose again. Has anyone got ant ideas. Panky it's not a difficult job, just a bit of a knuckle duster. The two worst parts is getting the bracket over the throttle rod, just be patient or loosen the rod. The second hard part is getting the second bolt off the bracket. It's really difficult to get to, an extendable socket set is a must.

It sounds like the captive nut has become detached:I

Is it one of the nuts on the bracket? What can I do to tighten the bolt?

I'm assuming that the bolt just screws into the bodywork and is not an ordinary nut and bolt. If it does just screw in then it has to screw into something and usually it's a captive nut that has been fixed inside the bodywork, sometimes these come loose and just turn as you try and tighten the bolt - if that's the case then there's not a lot you can do unless you can get to the captive nut and stop it turning.

Cheers panky, I will have a look at it tomorrow. Is the captive nut on the underneath of the bracket that holds the gear bush?

I have tightened the last bolt. I loosened the other bolts and the bolt just slid in. Just waiting for my new grease gun then away I go greasing.:D
