Sorting out bits and pieces on Wilma today...

Finally fitted some inertia selt belts, don't know why it has taken me so long to get around to it..!? Cos it was dead easy. I've had a set of Mini (1990)belts for ages, but thought they might not fit, anyway the were so easy to fit if anybody is interested. Gonna fit the waist straps only in the back though.

ANYWAY, the reason for my new topic...Does anyone know where you can get a replacement spring and copper wire for a temp gauge that runs from the dial to the temp sensor on the c/head? I also need the fine tube that runs from the sump plug sendor to the oil pressure gauge?
Can you you get these or do you have to buy a complete new dial??

Hi Ray, if the temp gauge isn't reading right it is most likely down to the temp sender - try replacing that before you rip the gauge out - it should be wired via the voltage stabiliser on the dash board and not directly from the sender to the gauge. The tubing for the oil pressure gauge should be available from your local motor factor (not Halfords) or engineering suppliers. Is it leaking or is the gauge not working?

So my local motor factors should sell the tubing...good, will pop in on Monday.

Regarding the water temp gauge, it does/did work, but the copper wire that runs inside the spring cable is broken (so is the spring cable now.) Can I get a length of this anywhere do you think?

These are factory made guages/sender unit and come as one. Unfortunately you can't replace the tube [V] Replace it with an electric one ;)

Oops, sorry. Mine must be an after market pressure gauge - it has a copper tube plumbed into a tee piece behind the pressure switch:I But an electric is definitely the way to go - I disconnected mine because of leaks[xx(].

Bum!

Does that mean I have to replace both the oil pressure gauge and the water temp gauge complete then? They are quite new...not the orginal Smiths original ones. The dials are fine, thought i could get new tubing and copper/spring wire, obviously not as Martin knows these things!
 
By the sound of it I think you'll have to - it would probably cost as much to get them repaired[V]
