Gas conversion?- where does commers

Hi I live in Belfast and my commer (1977 dodge) is barely alive in Wales... [V]

Have been trying for some time to get it on the road (over a year - through phone calls and trips over) but the guy working with it has given up as now the engine has too.

Initially I was thinking of buying a recon diesel but am now considering a recon petrol and getting a gas conversion as would like to be as eco friendly as I can as plan to use commer as work vehicle as well as fun. Is this a good idea[?]

This is the only forum I have tried on (and I have tried)and am feeling v.depressed about poss of not getting this sorted! so please someone get back to me... Also if anyone has any ideas where I can get engine refit sorted - can get towed with AA so can be anywhere in England (within reason). Dodge is in Conwy, N.Wales.

It is just such a baron wasteland of classic camper know how over here... have had a VW for 2 years and its the same with that - everything is always on the mainland and there is very little scope for parts or help here. Sorry dont mean to moan[:(!](expert advise really needed!!!)

So all help truelly happily received
Cheers
Nick

hi i have a 1972 commer highwayman with a LPG conversion and it runs great the only thing is i had problems with the mechanical fuel pump i am fitting a electric one instead so it should be ok .. and i have lost the water tank behind the drivers seat as the LPG tanks take the place of them !!!

Good Luck
