Interesting Report from FBHVC in their latest member newsletter on both future fuels formulation and testing of FBHVC Approved additives.Only post 2006 moderns have been built with inbuilt materials compatibility with new fuels, [that come in 2015] or so it seems!!

Super unleaded though expensive seems to be safest option for untreated fuel at present.

Also one thought that occured to me is that a rebuilt set of SU's I had done and not yet used will need a further rebuild with new seals of compatibe material before i can use with new stuff
 
I think a lot of the issues with methanol are associated with plastic floats and certain rubber seals in the carb - god help you if you have a fibre glass petrol tank though - it will melt[:0] For those of us with SU conversion I believe Burlens do a conversion kit, no idea how much but I guess it will be worth it so we can run on the modern fuels.
Methanol in petrol is most probably the cause of that most common Commer ailment known as snakeskin - the paint peeling off the inside of the petrol tank amd blocking everything up. Funny how the problem has only been around for a few years - how long have they been putting methanol in petrol, a bit of a coincidence I think[V]
With the mods I've done to Harvey I think I may have more of a problem with my 2001 Ford Focus:I

No methanol in petrol Panky, i wish there was then we might have some decent octane [}:)]

probably, once i get the engine running properly I will introduce veg oil - as long as its below 1.42 a litre I am making money - have been offered 200 gallons of 3 year old red diesel at work for free - shame I cant lose the colour

I'm paying about 90p/litre for 20 litre tubs of fresh veggie oil from Costco - I usually end up with a 80% veg to 20% diesel mix. The VW gives me an average of 50-55mpg on this and runs like a dream. Starting from cold can take an extra second or two, other than that the only other difference is the chip shop smell.
