Frigging clutch

Greg its a bit hard to see in the pic but the centre of the pressure plate has been gouged out by about 5mm. its totally had it[B)][V]
Still got to look on the bright side, the driven plate was round the right way:D
Broke at the moment so wont be getting this fixed in the very near future:( Have to go earn some dolla first!

A big thank you to everyone for the help with this, Lesson for the day is, dont use old parts where you cant get to them, no matter how good they look[B)]

Has anyone else used a roller type bearing in a commer and how did it go? I used them years ago in the Minor and they were great.

Well...alright then, maybe just a little...
 
I have used them before and they dont seem to last very long....I fitted a NOS one a few months ago and although it worked ok I reckon it had dried out and hence it rattled like mad until warmed up ....I'd go for carbon every time.....plus the carbon type are a couple of mm thicker which makes a noticeable difference in pedal movement ..........Oh and Happy New Year :D[8D]

ive just fitted one of those roller type in my gearbox on the panel van as i had some of them and s ome of the solid carbon type. they both looked the same size etc ,i just thought that they were a slightly more modern type used on the later vans. i aint tried out the gears yet as still fitting in the petrol engine and all the other bits to go with it at the moment.[:0][?] i do hope its going to be alright.:(

Happy new year Woolfy:) .......no reason why the roller type shouldn't be ok...they were used for years! ...they just seem to break down quicker...as I said, I think the NOS one I fitted, the grease had dried out so when cold it sounded very rattley ...the gear selection is also much smoother with the later carbon type:)

The wear pattern on ours with a roller throw out on a flat centre designed for a carbon one, compared to new:-

You could grind down yours to accept another roller type or to flat if going for a carbon... if you think there's enough meat left...

OR build-up missing metal with weld...
 
Its been gouged about two thirds of the way through. Unfortunately i dont think there is any way it can be saved and with this experience i think i will just go with new everything, its not coming out again for as long as possible!

Well...alright then, maybe just a little...
