exhaust problems

the inlet pipe on my silencer has all but disintegrated and i have had an idea of getting a piece of pipe 45mm diameter and have it welded onto the silencer.
I have seen on the internet a
"Exhaust Reducing Bush Set of 3
Comprises of 3 bushes allowing the reduction from 1+3/4inch (45mm) to 1+1/2inch (38mm)
Suitable to reduce the size of the silencer inlet as required."
I thought i could use these and clamp it on
I cant seem to find pipe with the inside diameter of 38mm so this seems the best option and the cheapest.
does anyone think this is crazy or some reason i cant think of why this wont work.
I see everyone uses different silencers which improve efficiency etc. but when my exhaust went the engine runs like a pig but when connected up its smooth and sweet as anything.
any advice would be appreciated.
hope everyone is ok

RC40:) as long as your down pipe is OK then get a twin box 1 3/4" Mini side outlet RC40 and join it with one of them there reducers.
